Proposal describing materials and work to complete
Materials
In the past several years I’ve been working with wood and steel in my sculptures. I have experience in all facets of the metal shop including foundry and metal fabrication. I use wood for basic construction methods in art installations and finer objects like tables and decorative items. I included several links for your review. (1) (2) (3). Assembling and treating the material are actions I enjoy doing. I am also experienced in surface treatments to beautify and protect the material.
Work to be completed
For this proposal I am requesting $1,000.00 for materials and my time put into completing the described project (refer to Budget sheet). Upon looking at your organization’s logo, my goal is to keep the motion and visual language of the symbol intact and tailor to fit on a wall at a much larger scale. It is also important for me to create a nice balance between the idea of a sponsors’ wall and your logo.
I designed four samples for the space you would want the artwork completed in. The final product would be a relief-type of art. This means that the final product will have a three dimensional quality. All letters will be on one level, other shapes will protrude from the wall creating a sense of movement. The level of protrusion is with-in inches. Hard wood is used for this application. Ash, teak, maple or oak is great for this. Larger sections would be constructed out of quality plywood sanded and treated. I may use metal for hardware and installation of the work. All pieces would be cut to specified details according to size and space. The original logo will be enlarged to size and used as a template.
Description of designed images
Image A is the traditional approach. It displays the logo at a larger size with a horizontal space below it for the names of your sponsors. The color of the wall as it is painted becomes the background.
Image B Changes the orientation of the original logo and has the letters placed over the image of the world and the figure. There is space on the right for the list of names sponsoring your organization.
Image C Is very similar to image A with the addition of a splash of color outlining the space the names of sponsors would be located.
Image D displays a change in size. The figure and world is enlarged and off set from the original. There is space on the right and the left to install small rectangular plates for the sponsor’s names. In this design the names of your sponsors become part of the design. In design A-C I chose to create space for the names outside the logo due to the size of the individual shapes in your logo. Adding names with-in the framework would make it visually distracting. Image D is the only design that allows for the names to be part of the logo because the shapes in the logo become the background.

All images were made on digital software meaning the three dimensionality of a relief is not present. If you are interested in what a relief type version of your logo would look like a can provide a sample upon request. As an example in Image D the black from a wall. There will be space between the wall and the figure. The heart will function as a puzzle piece fixed in place. Other aspects of this design will also have a relief type style. The letters will be three-dimensional.
Note; The image of the world in image D is not true to the logo. In the case you do choose this design it will be exactly like the logo. I will request a high quality image of your logo (digital or Hard copy) to use as a guide and complete the design
Requirements: I will need to take measurements and survey the space you would want the work in, in order to make everything to specified dimensions. In order to install the piece properly I will also need to know if there are studs present and the material the wall is made out of.
I would be happy to make changes to my designs to accommodate your needs. My goal is to make sure you are happy with the finished product. Please feel free to ask questions if this proposal did not cover the information you were looking for.
Time frame
If you decide you would want the work completed the amount of time this would take to complete is two to three weeks maximum. Installation is usually done in one day.
